A RESOLUTION REQUESTING AN INCREASE IN THE LOCAL LIBRARY MILL LEVY FOR SUPPORTING LIBRARY SERVICES DURING THE COMING YEAR.

WHEREAS: The ________ Library provides unique programs and vital services to the people of all ages living in the community; and

WHEREAS: K.S.A. 12-1220 requires the Trustees of ___________ Library to “determine” annually an amount of money needed to continue providing the library’s programs and services, and

WHEREAS: Trustees have determined that $__________ will be needed to continue providing unique programs and vital services, and

WHEREAS: The library’s current local levy of _____ mills would raise only ___ % of the Library proposed operating budget, and

WHEREAS: The Trustees have determined a local levy of ____ mills would raise a total levy of $ ____________ sufficient to support the proposed library budget; therefore, be it.

WHEREAS: The Trustees have determined that in order to maintain unique programs and vital services for members of the community it will be necessary to budget property tax revenues in an amount exceeding that which was levied for the this year’s budget. RESOLVED, that on [Day] of [Month], [Year], the Trustees of ________ Library hereby determine that an increase in property taxes is necessary to finance next year’s budget of ________ Library.
